Running shorts with pockets that actually hold your phone, gels and keys without bouncing — that's where Sunday Running started. Our 2-in-1 running shorts were designed in marathon training by founder Frank Zwaan, a runner who was done with open pockets, undersized pockets and keys lost along the route. The result: a short with a supportive compression liner, a lightweight outer layer and five pockets that keep everything in place at any pace.
The collection
The Ultimate 2-in-1 Running Short — €59.95
Two side pockets in the liner hold your phone and gels firmly against your leg — zero bounce, from easy miles to intervals. A rear zip pocket keeps your key and card safe. Two open hand pockets in the outer short give you quick access to whatever you need mid-run. The liner prevents chafing on long runs, the outer fabric wicks sweat and dries fast. Athletic unisex fit, sizes S–XL, in Black, Midnight Grey, Gold Sand and Navy.
Sunday Running Soft Flask (300 ml) — €9.95
Sized to sit precisely in the liner pocket of the short, so you can carry water or sports drink on long runs without a belt or bottle.
Sunday Performance Socks — €14.95
Anti-blister knit, supportive compression and cushioned impact zones. The natural partner to the short for training days.
What to look for in running shorts
- Pocket placement. A phone pocket in the compression liner, on the side of the thigh, is the only place a phone doesn't bounce. Pockets in the outer short or on the waistband swing with every stride.
- Zip pocket. Keys and cards belong behind a zip. Open pockets lose things on a long run.
- Liner vs. no liner. A 2-in-1 short with a compression liner prevents chafing and gives light support, so you don't need separate underwear. A short without a liner is cooler on paper but chafes on long distances.
- Fabric. Lightweight, sweat-wicking and quick-drying. Cotton has no place in a running short.
- Fit. Snug enough that the pockets hold, loose enough that your stride is free. Our short is athletic and unisex; check the size guide on the product page.

Frequently asked questions
Five: two phone/gel pockets in the compression liner, one rear zip pocket for keys and cards, and two open hand pockets in the outer short.
No. The phone pockets sit in the compression liner on the side of your thigh, where the fabric presses the phone against your leg. It moves with your body instead of swinging. The pockets are sized for large phones.
Yes — it was designed in marathon training and is worn on race day by thousands of runners. The liner prevents chafing on long distances and the pockets hold the gels you need for 42 km.
A 2-in-1 short combines a fitted compression inner short with a loose outer short. The inner layer gives support, prevents chafing and (in our case) carries the pockets; the outer layer gives the look and freedom of a classic running short.
The short has an athletic, unisex fit. Most runners order their usual size; if you prefer a looser outer short, go one size up. The full size guide is on the product page, and returns are easy within 14 days.
The current short has a unisex cut and is worn by both men and women. Our collection is built around the men's fit for now; a women's-specific short is in development.
Orders placed before 5 PM ship the same working day. Shipping is free over €70.
